THE FEEL
St. Peters has a comfortable, safe feeling that attracts many residents, especially families. The real estate landscape is diverse, including starter homes, traditional ranch structures, villas and high-end new construction.
HISTORY
Prior to the arrival of Europeans, the area that would become St. Peters was inhabited by Mississippian mound builders. The village of St. Peters was officially established somewhere in the late 1790s, named for a Jesuit mission in the area. Throughout most of the twentieth century, St. Peters remained a small farming town; that changed with the construction of interstate 70, which brought many businesses and commuters to the area.
ACCESSIBILITY
Interstate 70 runs through St. Peters, giving it easy access to St. Louis city and Lambert St. Louis International Airport.
CULTURE
The city has many veterans as residents; therefore many memorial locations dot the city, including a WWII fountain and flag display in front of city hall. This acts as a central location for celebrating days of remembrance.
Also notable is the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre, which displays work by local and national artists as well as offers art classes and programs.
ENTERTAINMENT
Perhaps the secret to the city’s success is a healthy parks and recreational department. According their website, “the City of St. Peters has about 1,000 acres of parkland, the world-class Rec-Plex recreation and fitness center, an arts center, kids’ camps, Veterans Memorials, an 18-hole golf course, and a number of affordable or free events.”
St. Peters also offers a number of shopping venues and restaurants.
SCHOOLS
St. Peters real estate encompasses the Fort Zumwalt and Francis Howell school districts. Additionally, there are several private schools in the area.
St. Charles Community College and Lindenwood University are both in St. Charles County and offer well-rounded curriculums. Other universities like Missouri Baptist University, Maryville University and Webster University also have satellite campuses in the county.
